Tobias Rylander is an award-winning Light, Scenic and Conceptual designer working across an ever-broadening scope of creative ventures; including music world tours, live productions, fashion, theatre, art installations and commercials.

Recent examples of Swedish-born Tobias’ work include Beyonce’s ‘Renaissance’ world tour, as well as The 1975’s critically acclaimed ‘At Their Very Best’ 2022-2023 world tour and Childish Gambino ‘The New World Tour‘. Other live production designs include shows for The Strokes, The XX, FKA Twigs, London Grammar, Robyn, and live stream arena events for e-sports giant Riot Games.

Tobias has also applied his design philosophy to the fashion and art world, designing runway shows for luxury brands such as Balenciaga, Calvin Klein and Acne Studios, as well as a multi-sensory art installations in collaboration with Karen O and Danger Mouse at the Marciano Art Foundation in Los Angeles and the Nobel Price Museum in Stockholm.

He has worked extensively in the commercials space, working with director Spike Jones on Apple’s award winning ‘HomePod’ advert, and also creating the visual environment on a string of recent Volvo car commercials.

More recently, he has also been working in the theatre space – notably creating a stunning lighting and stage production for The Royal Swedish Opera production of ‘Cinderella’ and ‘Gustavia’.

Tobias has been awarded with the prestigious ‘Knights of Illumination’ and ‘Bullen Awards‘ and continues to push the boundaries of innovative and creative modern design.
